Why are these themes such a popular topic for subject matter in art? Are there interesting overlaps/disparities between these stories? Does the artists physical distance to the subject matter influence the effectiveness of their work? What do you see as the moral principles of storytelling about loss and tragedy? When considering other elements of storytelling (action, plot, character, setting, atmosphere, point of view, tone, structure, choice of words, imagery) what is most important to the successful portrayal of loss or tragedy? (These are all questions to consider when choosing a thesis to explore).
