The final report must be typed. It must include an
a) Executive Summary (1 page). You should be able to give
this page to another
engineer (e.g. an electrical engineer) and they should be
able to understand the
purpose of your project and how well it worked if they read
nothing else. This
should not tell the steps you went through to get your
results.
b) Description of Building and Occupants. Describe the
building in sufficient detail that I
can see the basis for the component values, etc. used in
your spreadsheet.
c) Methodology – describe the methods used to analyze the
billing data and to calculate
the heating and cooling consumption from first principles,
including equations.
d) Description of Energy-Using Characteristics and Billing
Data. Estimate the monthly
heating and cooling consumption and expense from the billing
data.
e) Tabulate the results (and plot as appropriate) of each
step of your heating and cooling
calculations and compare these values with those obtained
from the billing data.
f) Discuss differences between calculated values for heating
and cooling consumption
and those determined from the billing data.
g) Include a copy of your spreadsheet as an appendix. This
spreadsheet must include the
equations used to generate each cell-type in the table(s) of
results shown in the
spreadsheet.
