Assignment Requirements
The following components should be included in the Professional Development Strategy Assignment:
· Reflection on Leadership or Management Concepts: Which specific theories, concepts, frameworks, or perspectives learned during this course did you find influential for your own leadership or management development? Or was there a specific case study, assignment, or video that you found influential? Be sure to cite the source(s) you’ve referenced via APA formatting requirements. 5 points possible for this section of the assignment.
· Emotionally Intelligent Leadership Inventory: For this section of the assignment, you will be completing the Emotionally Intelligent Leadership Inventory. To start this section of the paper:
o First complete the Emotionally Intelligent Leadership Inventory questions on pp. 2-3. Next, transfer you scores to the grid on pp. 4 – 5.
§ On page 6, map out your scores on the EIL line chart. Then complete the section on page 9 in which you identity which EIL capacity represents an area of strength and an area of development for each of the three EIL facets (Consciousness of Self, Others, and Context).
o In this section of the Professional Development Strategy paper, outline the three capacity areas which are your strengths and the three capacity areas for development. In addition, provide a reflection in which you outline strategies you’ll consider using to improve the three areas you’ve identified for development. 15 points possible for this section of the assignment.
· Leadership or Management Goals: Outline your goals for practicing better leadership or management in any aspect of your life. For example, are you aspiring to take on more leadership or management responsibilities in your career or community? Or perhaps refining your project management, decision-making, or organizational skills? 10 points possible for this section of the assignment.
· Leadership Philosophy Statement: Provide a 1-2 paragraph statement in which you provide your personal philosophy on the qualities and skills that you believe make a good leader. You can approach this section of the paper from the perspective of your own leadership philosophy as it applies to yourself, or as it applies to leaders in general. 5 points possible for this section of the assignment.
Additional Requirements (5 points possible)
· The paper must be typed (double-spaced).
· Good writing mechanics should be demonstrated.
· Sources referenced for this assignment need to be formatted both in-text and full-text via APA formatting requirements. Note: Papers which include referenced sources which are not cited both in-text and full-text will be returned to the student ungraded.
