CBA 325: Forensic Specialties
Course Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate an understanding of forensic science as it relates to criminal investigation.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the historical development and emerging protocols of forensic processes.
3. Demonstrate an understanding of the laboratory’s role as it pertains to criminal investigations.
For this assignment, students will address the following components in their research paper:
 How have scientific discoveries influenced the development of forensics as it applies to the criminal investigation?
 Discuss an individual that you feel made the most significant contribution to forensic science. Be sure to justify your choice by explaining
why you think their contribution is more important than the others.
 What different specialties and techniques are used in a crime lab to process evidence and report findings?
You will use the textbook as your guide, but you will also use outside research. Your essay should be 1500-1800 words in length and should
include at least six (6) in-text citations from six (6) scholarly and academic sources. Your textbook counts as one (1) source. Follow the guidelines
for the APA 7 Student Paper formatting. Sections should be clearly marked with headings, so your instructor knows which points you are
addressing. The Title, Abstract, if applicable, and References pages do not count towards the minimum word count for this assignment.
