Prompt: (Paper 1 Revision)
This semester, we’ve been examining the role that social media spaces play in how individuals relate to one another. For this essay, you are to revise paper 1 by adding an outside source to your essay. With those goals in mind, here is the revised paper 1 prompt:
To what extent are you persuaded by Konnikova’s claim that social media platforms deprive us of the opportunity to form meaningful connections to others? Why?
You must use one outside popular source in your essay. (If there are two sources that you want to use, see me first.) At a minimum, you must use at least two quotations from that source in your essay. You might find outside sources that supports or contradict the Konnikova’s claims through statistics, or you might find outside sources that show another aspect of Konnikova’s argument. Since this is your final essay for the semester, it must encompass everything you’ve been introduced to in ENG 101: Your paper must contain an argument, synthesis of quotations, a counterargument, and an outside source.

To help you get started, here are a few possible research topics that relate to our class:
Psychological research on social media, social networks, and communication.
The social effects of social media on our relationships
The cultural influence of particular social media platforms, like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
The physiological effects of social media.
The influence of social media on children.

Be sure to write your paper in MLA format and include a Works Cited page. Late papers will receive a reduced grade and you risk failing the course if your work is not submitted by the due date.
