In the final assignment, we want you to TEACH US about three of the five modules (I through IV) in this course, select the three modules that really stood out to you and the ones you learned the most from. By you being able to choose and select, there is agency in your decision, enjoy that! This is the part of the course where we get to enjoy hearing your voice by incorporating terms, artists, movements, and much more in a reflective piece created by you. By reflecting, it will trigger an understanding of all you gained from this course, and we hope you share your new experience with everyone you know. There will be NO guided prompts for this reflection, as we want the writing to be strictly your voice, organically written, in order to teach us what you have learned, we want you to be as honest as possible. Here are some ideas to possibly include in your writing:
What did you like, what didn’t you like, what did you learn the most about, what stood out the most? What knowledge did you gain by reading and learning about the concepts that you identify? Were you surprised by what you learned? Did you learn more about something that you already have some knowledge of? Essentially all the positives and negatives if any that you gained in the three modules of your liking.
Word count should be 300 minimum to 500 words maximum. Just remember that this is a reflective activity, speak/write from the heart.
Submit your reflection along with Reinventing and Revisualizing the Canon when you have completed both after the two-week allotted time in Canvas by Sunday, @ 11:59pm.
REINVENTING and REVISUALIZING THE CANON
You have made it to the very last section of this course, where you get to dream, envision, and recreate your own art history canon, and we hope that you have fun doing it! This final project will allow you to synthesize your experiences throughout the course by creating your own section of the Western art canon. Each module has helped you to learn about how you can decipher art as writing and writing as art, how the Western canon was created, including the history, and the Eurocentric context revolving around that history. Conversation on how technology in art was discovered and invented, ultimately changing and enriching to the canon helped to show that canonical shifts can occur for unexpected reasons. An in-depth journey through our very own, Penn State Archives, including the Palmer Art Museum, and the Oral History archives, have given you resources and different kinds of artforms and texts to explore. The Judy Chicago archives centered on the conception of the first Feminist Art Education, the discussion of Feminism, and the making of The Dinner Party, which confronts the canon. Plus, we have given you many other types of resources along with other gallery and museum connections that have helped you learn about the different ways in which art is collected, housed, and categorized. We have also considered many contemporary artists and attempted to make visible the many different influences and points of view that go into the art-making process.

We further challenged the canon from the margins, focusing on voice and the Outsider artists that were never verbally heard. Voice is quite powerful, don’t you think? So, here you are, now looking back on all of those Modules, and having written your reflection paper, you are ready to REVISUALIZE AND REINVENT YOUR OWN CANON!
WRITTEN DOCUMENT
We want you to be creative in this final assignment as you design your own art history canon. Please follow the prompts below in your creation:
This canon is going to be in miniature, meaning that you will not use the whole timeline of art, so the requirement is to include new elements to the canon through the profiles that you create. Think about creating your own art movement or genre of art that helps to identify what these artists have in common. This could include commonalities in use of materials or subject matter, inventive use of technology, and much more. For each new element added to your canon, please create a profile of each of your artists and why you included these new discoveries for your canon. Think about historical connections as well and how the artists you choose might be challenging them in some way.
Once you have chosen your artists, then you will write a profile for each one of them and compile them into a “canonical document” in order to introduce them to us. The first part of this document will explain to us what your newly invented short canon is all about. Give it a name and talk about it in a way that explains your ideas about what this canon includes and why. Choose 5 artists that you would like to include in your canon and create a profile for each one of them. No one can decide this, but you, so think deep, think hard…what is most important for you to include in these profiles that helps to link each artist within your canon. How will your choices expand or even question the canon and what you know about it? When you create your profile for each artist, you may use the basic format that we used throughout the semester. Include biographical information, a picture of the artist, one or two images that represent their work and an overview of the kind of work that they do and why. You may link to articles or other resources to enhance your profile. Be inventive about what you include. Also include a reason(s) why you chose to include each artist in your cannon.
Once you have completed your profiles, then create your Word document. Give your canon a name and use it as the document title. Use the standard format that you would use for an essay starting with an introduction that explains your canon and what it is all about, followed by your profiles and ending with a conclusion that includes what you have learned through the experience of creating this canon, and reference list. We are not requiring a word count for this part of the assignment, but we do expect that you will cover all of the requirements in a thoughtful manner. Make sure that you give your document a good edit!!
WHAT WILL YOUR CANON LOOK LIKE?
-Use your imagination and creative side for this last part of your assignment. What will your canon look like? You can create your canon through PowerPoint, Canva.com, drawing, poster board, comic style, collage, simply use artistic craft in your method. However, there is one format we do not want you to use, Microsoft Word, please be more creative in your approach. I will not accept a Word.doc for your canon. You don’t have to include every bit of information that you put into your “canonical document” in your timeline. Just include the basics like the name of your canon, and the artists you included. Anything else is up to you. Really think about how you want to present your canon to us and understand that this visual version of your canon is meant to teach us something just like your document does.
-If you manually create your canon, you should take one picture of it to show the whole thing and two close-ups to show us some details. This part of the assignment is really in your hands, literally. Enjoy the process and be as creative as you can. See below for more ideas!
-When you are finished, please submit via Canvas by 11:59pm on Sunday, along with TEACH US. DO NOT HAND IN SEPARATELY, this is a combined assignment grade of 200 points.

This paper/project was started by another writer and is very much not what i needed, looking for someone to fix it and bring it up to the instructions as called for, i know its only 3 and a half hours out, please help
