What was the popular – unofficial – response to Urban’s appeal?

Using The textbook (Lynn Hunt, Thomas R. Martin, Barbara H. Rosenwein, and Bonnie G. Smith, The Making of the West: Peoples and Cultures, Volume 1 to 1750 (MacMillan Learning/Bedford-St. Martin’s, 6th edition, 2019) and the primary sources below answer the following questions:
How does Urban II create support for the Crusade?
Who was his target audience, and why?
How did he tailor his arguments to this audience?
What was the popular – unofficial – response to Urban’s appeal?
What did the unofficial crusaders do?
This is not a term paper or a single essay, but a set of specific questions to be answered separately. You must make use of the sources below, not just the textbook. You must use the actual primary source documents, not just the introductions to the documents. That said, the Crusades documents are very long. You do not have to read every single word of every single document, just read/skim enough to get a sense of the events. Do not just make blanket assertions – provide lots of supporting details and serious analysis of those details to show how they support your assertions.

Even though you are using your own words, you still need to cite the source for your answers. How you do so is not important, though I recommend a simple parenthetical note, as in these examples:
Gregory said that princes should kiss the pope’s feet (Dictatus Papae #9).
Most of the power ended up in the hands of the manorial lords, even though they had no legitimate claim to authority (textbook, page 326).
Members of the clergy were not supposed to be married or have sex (lecture 12)
NOTE
Use of outside sources is strictly prohibited.
Using someone else’s words without crediting the source is plagiarism and will earn you a grade of Zero for the assignment.
The assignment is not a term paper, but several specific questions to be answered separately. Be sure that your answer addresses the questions!
