Purchasing Stock for Financial Portfolio
You are considering buying stock in a company. Before you purchase the stock, you will conduct research on the company and conduct a financial analysis by calculating ratios to assess their financial performance.
Guidelines
You are required to write a 3-4 page paper in essay format that includes the following information:
Company Background
-Select a public traded company and state the company’s trading symbol on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)
-Provide a brief background about the company’s operations and their products or services
-Provide a rationale for why you want to buy the company’s stock. Explain
-Is the company a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average? Yes or No
Financial Performance
-Research and locate the company’s latest financial statements – Balance Sheet and Income Statement
– Go to Unit 14. Review analyzing financial statements. Compute the following key financial ratios and show your work on the calculations.
Liquidity – Current ratio
Activity – Inventory turnover
Leverage – Debt to owner’s equity
Profitability – Net Profit Margin
In a table, list the name of the ratio and the calculation.
Write a summary about the company’s financial performance describing the financial ratios.
Appendix
List the company’s URL or link to the financial statements so I can cross Reference the information to check the ratio calculations.
