Write a persuasive paper that first presents a particular perspective about a text (or texts), and then works to convince readers that the perspective is valid.

Write a persuasive paper that first presents a particular perspective about a text (or texts), and then works to convince readers that the perspective is valid. Choose one or more of the texts that we have covered over the semester for further research and analysis. You can decide to focus on specific issues like that of class and human rights in The Life in the Iron Mills or The White Tiger, or issues of racial injustice, immigration, and resistance in Home Fire. Your analysis must be firmly grounded in the literary texts. So, the point is not so much to highlight racism against South Asians in the UK as it is to explore how Home Fire reflects on the experience of such discrimination in the lives and experiences of its characters. And make sure to tie your specific focus with the broader theme of the course: the tension between legal justice and morality/social justice as it plays out in these texts.
