Discuss why, in your opinion, this theme is relevant to us/students on CSI campus today?

CHOOSE ONE FROM THE FOLLOWING THEMES:

4. Fantasy Art
Your 5-7 pages long final paper of double spaced text will be essentially a proposal for a small exhibition of art on our CSI campus.
Think about your task in the following ways:
You will have a large room in which you will be curating an exhibition on the theme/topic you chose from the four themes listed above.
Page #1: Introduce the theme you are choosing. You can also narrow it down, but it needs to still relate to the central theme you chose. Discuss why, in your opinion, this theme is relevant to us/students on CSI campus today? How does it relate to our lives? In what ways it may trigger a new awareness, curiosity about something or the need to examine critically aspects of our lives/society, etc.
Pages 2-6 approx. should offer discussions of the 5-6 works of art that you chose to exhibit under the chosen theme. You need to formally ID and introduce the painting as we always did in responses and subsequently discuss why this painting is a good choice for your exhibition, how it relates to the rest of the paintings, possibly next to which other work of art will this one be displayed and what new perspective this juxtaposition may offer to the viewer? Finally, you need to include some visual analysis of the art work. If you are going to talk about the notion of class in society for example, where do we see this addressed in the art work. Really point us to that. We did a lot of visual analysis, so this should be fine.
5-6 works of art may include ONE work of art we have not covered during the semester, but you think it fits well. Next, you need to introduce works by at least 3 artists! This is important! A paper one one artist’s work will not fulfill the requirements. Think about it this way: I need to see that you are working with various material from the entire range of the course.
Last page: Brief conclusion about this exhibition proposal and the chosen theme.
No research necessary beyond the use of the material we encountered in our class work.
If you do use any articles from class, don’t forget to cite these. Use proper citation rules.
Your own name, instructor’s name and course, date will not take more than 3 lines in the upper left part of your first page.
You need to have a title/theme for your essay/exhibition. First use one of the themes offered above. Second, you are welcome to come up with a subtitle where you narrow down the chosen theme.
If you would like to include images, do so, but again, 5-7 pages of double spaced text will be counted on. Images need to be on additional pages.
