There are some interesting passages about being an American (as opposed to being French, Italian, etc.). Pay some attention to these. What relation do they have to the main themes of the novel, homosexuality and coming of age?

9-10%: Great job! Your Posts are detailed, complete, well-organized and thoughtful. Keep up the good work! You meet minimum length requirements of 250 words.
7-8%: When responding to a topic, make sure you give examples and explain your ideas in detail think about explaining why you think or feel the way you do about the topic at hand. Though the questions ask about personal experience, consider bringing in the readings to put your experience in context of the topic for the week. Adding more explanation and examples make for more effective posts.
6% In addition to more explanation, you need to make sure your ideas are well-organized (paragraphs, logical transitions, etc.). Also, be sure to pay attention to grammar, spelling and formatting.
