Description: You will give a speech that is 24 minutes in length, containing 24 main
points. This speaking assignment does not require research, just preparation based upon your
own knowledge and experiences.
Procedures: You will select one of the topics below and give a speech with an introduction,
body, and conclusion. Be sure to have clear main points and use clear transitions throughout
the speech; develop each main point with your own examples, explanations, illustrations,
reasons, anecdotes, stories, etc. Your speech MUST be longer than 2 minutes, but no more
than 4 minutes. Practice is the only way to make sure this occurs, so please practice your
speech at least 5 times, prior to delivery in class. Be sure to peruse the course text for insights
that might help with this assignment.
