Review the reading for this module: “Imsukuhum Kulhum! Modernity and Morality in Egyptian Children’s Consumption”.
Choose one of the persons discussed in the reading: Alicia and Meagan, Ismail, Mrs. Maryam, Dr. Reem, Soraya, Yaseen
Brainstorm: Consider this person’s actions and how they create “friction” in Anna Tsing’s sense
Brainstorm: Consider the contexts in which the person is acting: cultural ideas about play, family structures, economic systems, product marketing, availability and cost of goods, media, religious, political and social values, and any others that might be relevant.
Write a short essay describing how their engagements could be thought of in terms of the concepts of friction.
This reflection paper should be a maximum of 2 pages, double spaced with one inch margins. Upload it as a doc file or pdf or link to a shared Google Doc.
