The different chemical reactions presented in this module are encountered every single day. If you bake, you may have observed that every time baking soda is used, an acidic ingredient (buttermilk, for example) is also present. If you live in an area with hard water, you are familiar with mineral deposits in sinks and bathtubs. If you garden, you know that those shiny new tomato cages will be rusted at seasons end.
Activity
Make a list of all acid-base, precipitation and redox reactions you come across on a normal day. Choose one of them and try to figure out the chemical reaction behind it. Present a 100-150 word summary of your findings to the class, making sure that your posting:
1. Represents a real situation
2. Explains the type of reactions and chemical substances involved
3. Lists the sources you used for research, if any
