After you have studied these required learning materials, answer the questions below.
This forum requires you to watch a TedTalk video entitled “The surprising solution to workplace diversity” and read an HBR article titled “Why diversity programs fail”. Both learning materials discuss some problems in organizational practices of managing workforce diversity. What are similarities or differences do you find between both learning materials? Make reference to specific contents in these learning materials.
This forum requires you to read an HBR article titled “Diversity as Strategy” which outlines IBM’s diversity management initiatives. Select one of these initiatives, and then do the following : (1) based on the HBR article entitled “Why diversity programs fail” to assess whether and why it is effective or not. Make reference to specific contents in the HBR article “Why diversity programs fail;” and (2) Based on at least one module concept discussed in the instructor’s lecture videos to assess whether and why it is effective or not. Explain what that module concept is and why/how it can be related to your discussion. Make reference to specific content discussed in the lecture videos.
Important Notes:
1. Two common areas of point loss in the past were: (1) not making reference to specific contents in the required learning materials; and (2) not making reference to specific class concepts discussed in the module or not explaining why and how such class concepts can be related.
2. A high-quality response should reflect your careful studying of required forum learning materials, evidenced by connecting to specific contents of these learning materials. Additionally, a high-quality response should also reflect your careful studying of class lecture materials (e.g., instructor’s lecture videos, textbook, and class readings other than forum readings), evidenced by connecting to specific class concepts discussed in these class lecture materials.
