1.) Contextualize the problem: (how has this issue appeared in past infectious disease outbreaks? Discuss its historicity, background, current social status, legal context, case studies, etc.)
2.) Choose an ethical theory that you think best addresses the moral problem at stake. Be sure to describe the theory in some depth before applying it.
4.) How does your chosen ethical theory address the moral problem? Particularly, address the advantages of this point of view.
5.) Provide a possible objection that arises for this scenario, and how your chosen moral theory/principle might address such a difficulty. Please limit your discussion to one objection, addressed in the penultimate paragraph of the essay (after steps 1-4 have been addressed).
2 Primary sources required (one from the Shafer-Landau textbooks, and/or direct evidence from the philosophers themselves (such as Mill, Hobbes, etc.), and from the authors of the resource from which you chose your ethical dilemma ( the authors of the papers on the Hastings Center site or the AMA Journal of Ethics).
One scholarly secondary source, taken from an academic database, is required.
A bibliography is required.
