Research Paper
The paper will be based on academic research and health organization data. Use graphs and charts to illustrate date. The paper should be 7 full pages of words excluding references in Times New Roman 12pt font. Can add charts and graphs in appedicies and referrenced accordinly.
Topics
You may choose to write the paper on one of the following topics:
Type-two diabetes
Measles
Opioid drug use
Smoking and/or vaping and e-cigarettes
NOTE: When referring to “Local context” it is going to depend on the topic and available data. For example, if you’re writing about measles, given that there are so few cases in the country, you would discuss it using statistics for Canada. If you were writing about opioid use, you could likely get statistics for the Greater Toronto Area.
Paper Sections
Your paper will highlight a real public health issue with a focus on your local context.
Introduction/Background
Provide a description of the health concern; what is its natural history, how is it caused, who is impacted and how?
Local Impact
Present some local statistics. If there have been recent changes in these, discuss why. Try to get as specific as possible. If local or regional data are not available, discuss the national context.
The Role of Public Health
Describe past public health efforts and their impact. What worked, what didnt?
What are current social and public health programs aimed at addressing this concern?
Conclusion
Summarize your findings. Provide some thoughts, advice, and recommendations for further progress.
References Cited
Complete bibliography in APA style.
Use a min of 5 references (reputabble sites, academic sources, journals… etc)

Throughout the body of the paper, use in-text citation to indicate when you are using information or ideas from another source. All references used should be included with complete reference information under the References Cited section at the end of your paper. Please use APA style references.
