Write an essay where you explain how the play “The Importance of Being Earnest” is a satire. Include an introduction paragraph, 2-3 body paragraphs and a conclusion paragraph. Your introduction should give some background about the play, such as the time period it was set in and/or a brief summary of it. The final sentence of your introduction paragraph should be a thesis statement (one sentence that states the overall purpose of your essay and previews the topics of your body paragraphs). Each body paragraph should explain a different part of Victorian society that the play is commenting on (i.e. marriage, obsession with pleasure, gender roles, the upper vs. lower class, more traditional literature, obsession with manners, obsession with aesthetics). Include very specific details, cite examples and/or quotes from the play in each body paragraph. Conclusion paragraph should summarize the main ideas of each body paragraph and offer final insight. APA citations from the play only. No outside sources. This is 10th grade work and is being used as an example paper for tutored students. I do not want this paper to be college level but needs to be high school level writing. Thank you very much.
