The purpose of this assignment is for you to explore and to articulate elements associated with critical race theory, critical empathy and mass media. You will connect concepts and ideas from other similar cases to an analysis of the film—The Untold Story of Emmett Till–connecting a true story of the past to the recent Trayvon Martin and other cases, such as the case of George Floyd.
Discuss and define critical race theory
Discuss the Eric Garner, Sandra Bland, and George Floyd cases in relation to a critique on our justice system as well as the ways in which the media has covered these stories. In what ways are the victims demonized? In what ways are the police officers demonized.? Incorporate information from the Tulsa Massacre.
