2) In Mohsin Hamids The Reluctant Fundamentalist, the narrator Changez reflects on his return to Pakistan from the United States: There are adjustments one must make if one comes here from America; a different way of observing is required. I recall the Americanness of my own gaze when I returned to Lahore that winter when war was in the offing (124). Why is an adjustment of his gaze so necessary for Changez when he returns to Lahore? How does this notion of adjusting ones gaze relate to your understanding of the narrative voice presented in the novel?
