Identify the immigrants that flooded the shores of New York City in the 1890s. Why did they come? What kinds of discrimination did they face when they arrived? What jobs did they perform when they got here? What adverse conditions did they face (e.g., in housing, diseases, work) when they lived here?
What political beliefs did they have? What about unionization and the newly arrived immigrants? Were they more apt to become radicalized?
Which immigrants were more likely to succeed, become politically powerful, become affluent?
Address as many of these subjects as you can and explain them thoroughly through the material provided in Chapters 62 and 63
