Why is it ‘Beautiful?’

Here are the class instructions:
This painting is titled Birth of Venus, painted in tempera on canvas by Sandro Botticelli in 1484. It imagines the moment the goddess Venus (the Roman goddess of love, sex, beauty, and fertility) is born from the sea. Because the ideals of “beauty” are culturally specific, Botticelli made stylistic choices (lines, colors, light/shading, pattern, texture, composition) that his audience (Western Europeans) would find irresistible.
You are all inheritors of these Western cultural and beauty ideals; in other words, aesthetics. Your task in this discussion is twofold:
State whether or not you subjectively (personally) find this work of art beautiful, and why. What specifically do you love about it? What specifically do you hate about it?
State why this painting is generally considered objectively beautiful (cultural aesthetic standards). Dissect the painting’s visual elements; HOW did Botticelli make this work beautiful for his audience?
Look at the painting photo I have provided to complete the assignment.
