It doesn’t matter what you do, you can’t do it well without practice and discipline. Being disciplined is every champion’s secret to success. How do body builders get so huge (outside of illegal drug use)? Discipline. Discuss how the Ohio State University Buckeyes win the championship a few years ago? Discipline. Why did they lose in 2007 and 2008? Lack of discipline. While there are certainly other things that factor in, discipline is very important!
Could you do the work in this course by yourself, on your own? Perhaps. The work in this course is not necessarily hard work; however, your success in this course is directly proportionate to your level of discipline. The subject area of technology might cause us a little anxiety. Some of us might be a little more experienced in this area. Please believe me when I tell you that you can do it. Just like Paul said in Corinthians, you must be disciplined if you are to succeed, whether in this class, or life in general. In addition, I will suggest that discipline in our class work comes in second to discipline in our spiritual life. I believe that the Lord will help us and teach us about discipline as we spend disciplined time with Him in His Word.
Here is some advice: don’t chance it. Set aside some disciplined time right now for your spiritual life. You might think you don’t have time with work, family, ministry, and school. However, this spiritual discipline is imperative to your success in all areas of life. Being disciplined spiritually doesn’t mean we will never fail. However, as the old song goes “My God is so big, so strong, and so mighty, there’s nothing my God cannot do!” Even when we stumble, God will be there to help us back up. Amen!
