Imagine that you have been hired by the Daytona Police Department as a researcher. You are tasked with conducting a research study that is based on data reported by the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS). The information gathered from your research will be useful in strengthening crime prevention efforts within the city.
To execute this task, you employ the strategies outlined for conducting research through the scientific method. Hence, for this assignment, students will use the NCVS to
Formulate at least three research questions that examine the nature of crime and/or victimization in the United States (3pts)

to identify your independent variables (i.e., race, gender, etc.) and your dependent variable (i.e., one type of Personal victimization OR one type of Household victimization. This means you should have three research questions asking about a potential relationship. Example: What effect does location of residence have on motor-vehicle theft in the United States in 2019.

Click on Custom Tables once you are directed to the NCVS page
Choose either “Personal Victimization” or “Household Victimization,” then click “Select Victimization Type.”
For Years, leave this as is (i.e., do not change the Years tab)
Identify the type of personal or household victimization that you wish to explore in your study
In the “First Criteria,” identify three (3) independent variables that you wish to correlate with your victimization type
Develop research hypotheses predicting an association/relationship between the three independent variables you identified above and the victimization type you selected above (i.e., dependent variable) (3pts)
Conceptualize and operationalize independent and dependent variables (8pts), and

Evaluate your study by identifying the limitations of the chosen research method, to include the limitations or shortcomings of the NCVS (3pts)
**In addition, students will locate at least (3) three scholarly, peer-reviewed journal sources exploring the hypothesized association/relationship. Based on these scholarly sources, students will summarize (1) what the findings were for each of these sources are.
