After watching Giselle & Swan Lake, and reading about the Romantic and Classical Ballets, write a 3-5 page paper in which you compare and contrast the two works, and show how they fit into their historical category (Romantic or Classical), using specific examples. Speak about how the choreographers told their stories through dance. Include mime, divertissements, (the different kinds of) pas de deuxes, character dances (if any), as well as the different choreographic elements we’ve studied (i.e. symmetry, patterns, strong & weak areas of the stage), and how these works conveyed aspects of the historical time and countries in which the choreographers were living.
