Session 4 Self-Reflection Paper
NOTE; It has been suggested that emotional intelligence (EI), or the awareness and management of emotions in ourselves and others, is a better predictor of life success than IQ. Although this theory gained prominence in the subfield of organizational management, researchers are now proposing that not only is EI essential for successful leaders, but it is key for psychological health and success in life. A model of the four domains is below:
Self
Others
Awareness
Self-Awareness—being aware of one’s emotions and their impact
Social Awareness—being aware of the emotions of others (empathy)
Management
Self-Management—ability to control emotions, to self-disclose appropriately, & to adapt to changes
Relationship Management—managing conflict, encouraging others, providing constructive feedback
