After viewing two of the read-alouds attartched, discuss what elements in read-alouds make for good storytelling. This can include the story itself as well as the reader/performer. (Remember, the audience for those read-alouds is supposed to be young children. Try to get into the mindset of children to think about what would engage them in a read-aloud.)
What specifics about the stories make them good ones for reading aloud? Quote a line or describe a specific visual. What techniques of the storytellers help the read-aloud to connect to young listeners? Be as specific as possible both in stating techniques used (come up with two techniques) and in citing examples to prove your points.
