Introductory section content includes statement of purpose, background information for the problem, relationship to human services and plan of organization.
The purpose of the paper is to describe the CRAAP method and demonstrate its usefulness in analyzing selected policy oriented websites.
Provide a brief rationale for need to assess quality of information on internet. Cite sources.
Provide a brief overview of CRAAP – two to three sentences that identify and briefly define the dimensions – cite CRAAP reference and other relevant references. Assume a college level, uninformed audience.
Relate need to human services field. Why do practitioners need to be informed consumers of policy information? (Cite sources using APA format).
Provide brief explanation of how the paper will be organized – for example: in the remainder of the paper, I will discuss the CRAAP method in more detail, and explain the scoring strategy used to evaluate the websites. Next, I will identify three policy oriented websites, I will provide their URLs, and their mission. I will identify each dimension of the CRAAP method and relate it with specific examples from the website. Finally, I will note implications for the human services profession.
