For this question: Give me your opinion, was the Civil War necessary? Many historians have argued that it was not, that slavery would have died out within a few decades on its own(it certainly would have, that’s unquestionable) as it became less profitable as an economic enterprise, and that the war was a tremendous loss of money, lives, and resources that could have been avoided; however, this amounts to putting a price tag on several more decades of human misery and rape; mutilation and torture; mental, emotional, and physical abuse, not to mention outright murder; as well as the separation of families. What do YOU think?
