This assignment has three components.
Part I: Major Points of the Reading (600 words minimum)
Read Chapter 4 (Prejudice + Discrimination) and Chapter 5 (Oppression and Power) in our course text, Is Everyone Really Equal?
(Links to an external site.)
For both chapters, identify the most important aspect of the readings. Describe at least three (3) of the most important points contained within the chapter, and explain and/or justify the importance of each element. There should be a total of at least six (6) major points – three from each chapter. What are the major takeaways from these two chapters? Please note: the points you identify should not be simply things that you find interesting but rather key points the authors outline for learning.
Part II: Critique (200 words minimum)
Critique the chapters you have read. This is your opportunity to offer your thoughts on what you have read. What resonates with you? What do you think the authors need to do a better job explaining? What do you disagree with or not understand?
Part III: Questions
Pose one or two questions to the authors of our textbook. These questions should go beyond the reading and should not be answered elsewhere in the reading. Your question should demonstrate that you are thinking critically and deeply about the material.
Additional information:
Each reflection must be a minimum of 800 words and be academic in nature. Be sure to cite page numbers when referencing course material and/or using quotes. Note: Links to Google docs will not be accepted.
