Please make up as you go on the person above and write a story of how he came to australia from lebanon and made a life for himself here. He is still alive- living on his own in parramatta and just goes for walks and plays with his granchildren when they come over as part of his exercise.

He worked many many years but retired after the death of his wife who suffered from breast cancer.

For this assessment task you will develop a person-centred narrave about an older person. You will need to engage with an
older person over a three-week period through some semi-structured conversaons. You are encouraged to keep notes in a
journal about your conversaons with the older person and the informaon that you have elicited.
This task should highlight your understanding about the older person across four domains:
(i) personal history/biography;
(ii) experiences of ageing;
(iii) chronic condions/comorbidies and
(iv) wishes for their future.
Based on your journal entries/notes you will need to cra a person-centred narrave (in the form of an essay) that addresses the
above four domains: (i) personal history/biography; (ii) experiences of ageing; (iii) chronic condions/comorbidies; (iv) wishes for
the future. You will develop your person-centred narrave (in the form of an essay) that address the above domains. For at least
of two of the domains, you must also idenfy and explain one key need of the older person (two key needs) and analyse these
needs in the context of person-centred care using peer-reviewed literature.

The first element is 10 marks for the discussion post which should just be a brief outline “about the experience of conducting a person-centred conversation with an older person e.g the strategies, challenges and key, the other components relate to your essay”.
You can do your own thread and then maybe reply to someone else’s thread is my understanding as it says minimum 2 posts.
Just a tad confused of what information should be included. I guess it’s focusing on the four domains, and the older persons lived experiences throughout their life from the start to now? Im just confused as to how we can reference this?
Yes you include the 4 domains and 2 needs, (pick 2 domains and need that applies to each).
An example could be that your participant lives with a chronic condition, they don’t like clinical environments and they prefer a more holistic approach to health care. You would then need to find a resource that expands on this, such as what does the research tell you about the benefits of holistic approaches to healthcare, is this person centred?
This example would also be a ‘need’ which is also specified in the rubric. The person needs to ensure they have medical treatment in a holistic environment and any interventions might also need to be holistic where possible, e.g. naturopathy and the like.
Needs for elderly people could also be independence and the opportunity to be mobile, these are things that us young folk take for granted, but I guess the assignment wants you to look into an older persons life and see what they prioritise in their life in order to get to know and understand them.
These are just my thoughts and they may not be correct, however it is how I have interpreted the assignment.
Thank you for you very detailed response. I am glad to know that we are on the same page as this is what I thought also. In regards to the questions we would like to ask them about their life, do we have to include what we asked them? Or just go through it as a story (biography) of their life, and experiences, as we are talking in 3rd person, obviously we cant say ‘When I asked them” Maybe a way around this could be “When [Name] was questioned about their hardest/worst experience with ageing, they said x/y/z?
Yes, I would agree with that, I would say something like, when prompted about XYZ the participant expressed that they felt/thought/responded XYZ
Essay writing is in third person. Avoid using words such as I, us, we, me etc. You could address the person’s first name, use he or she etc.
You will need to address all four domains, including aspects of the older person’s personal history/biography,
person-centred focus
across all four
domains, including a
life-course
perspective.
