Give three examples of what the immigrant experience was like in urban and industrial cities during the late 1800s and early 1900s. (What challenges and issues did they confront?)
Give two examples of how the city cultures changed American society. (What made it so unique at the time?)
Give two examples of the political issues that occurred in urban American cities at the time. (What were the political concerns Americans had at the time?)
Give three examples of the efforts to reform these urban American cities at the time. (Who pushed for these reforms and what reforms did they want?)
Finally, do any of these examples relate to our modern society?
When answering these questions, please write approximately 3-4 pages, double-space, and in full paragraphs. Don’t just copy and paste the information from the book. Make a case or an argument as to how the rapid growth of these urban-industrial cities brought upon significant political and social challenges. As you answer the questions make sure to cite the pages from the book and avoid using too many quotes in your paper. You don’t need a Works Cited page when citing from the book, just make sure to cite the specific page numbers in the MLA style. Points will be deducted if the pages are not cited. If you are planning to use some sort of internet source for your paper, or you copied someone else’s paper or if your paper is so incoherent that it doesn’t make any sense then you will receive no credit.
Again, avoid throwing in a bunch of quotes. Try to explain things in your own words, but make sure to cite the page numbers to show where you got the information from.
