Some of you may have seen the attached picture that explains the difference between equity and equality. Do you think this captures the debate or do you see flaws in the way the issue is pictorially presented? A lot of what we believe is supported by pictures, phrases, metaphors. All such things are inherently simplistic. But that doesn’t mean they don’t help. Does this picture help?

Why do you think that people so often look to education and schools as places to solve or deal with society’s problems? Whether it is race or immigration or religion it often seems like this controversies are find expression in education. Any thoughts about why this might be the case?
