Attribution

As our textbook explains on page 384:
In crime stories, make sure that you attribute all accusatory information and much of the information you received secondhand (not by direct observation). Factual information does not need attribution.
For example, the location of a crime is usually factual. If someone has been charged with a crime, you can state that as a fact.
To reduce the use of attribution after every sentence, you can use an overview attribution for part of your story, especially when you are recounting what happened (Police described the incident this way). Or mix it up: According to Providence Police….
Taking the above into consideration, write a full news story – with a strong, straight news lead – using the information (below) you obtained from a Providence Police report. Give attribution where needed and apply AP style.

Information
Injured: Randolph Carver, 43, 10 Marlborough Avenue, Providence. Shot two times, in the abdomen and once in the buttocks.
Shot in the parking lot of Stop & Shop in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Providence. On Main Street, to be exact.
Injured claims he doesn’t know who shot him. Someone shot him from a car driving by. It was approximately 4:45 in the morning. It is not known why Carver was in the parking lot at that time.
Found on the scene were eight 9-mm shell casings in the parking lot.
While searching the area two suspects were spotted on foot at the corner of Evergreen and Cobalt street. Police approached the two suspects for questioning. They fled on foot into a nearby patch of woods.
When Patrolman Gregory Gray stepped out of the car to question the individuals, he said that “a third suspect stepped out from the nearby doorway and pushed a pit bull toward him before running into the woods himself.” The pit bull attacked him and bit him on the right leg and on the left arm. He shot the dog. He drove himself to Rhode Island Hospital. Received 26 stitches.

His partner, Tony Sarducci, pursued the perpetrators into the woods but said he was “unable to locate them.” He returned to the station to file his report. No arrests; police are investigating.
