Each student will write a paper where they explore and reflect on their personal understandings of identity, which can include gender, sexuality, race, class, ability, etc. What influences have impacted your identity formation? How have institutional and/or macro forces like family, the media, schools, politics, etc. contributed to how you understand the various pieces of your identity? What other things have contributed to your own identity and/or how you conceptualize and understand gender and sexuality—for example social movements, affinity groups, international and/or exposure to other cultures, etc.
