Think about specific individuals with whom you interact regularly — a family member, close friend, coworker, and person who is significantly important to you.
Consider whether your communication rights are being respected by each individual.
On the scoresheet, respond to each statement and score each one between 1-5.
1 = not at all and 5= yes, absolutely!

Using the same individuals as you did in Part I, consider whether their communication rights are being respected by you.

Part III
With each of these rights come responsibility. The most effective communication occurs when both parties recognize, and protect the needs, interests, and concerns of each other.
As you answer each question below (1-2 paragraphs each), your response should include an answer to the question, and reasons for your answer:
Communication Basic Rights may be a new concept for you to consider. Which of the “rights” surprised you in some way?
As you look at your scores for each person, you’ll find that the lower the score, the more likely you feel your communication rights are not respected (Part I). Or, that you’re not respecting the rights of the other person (Part II). What surprised you the most about your scores?
What (if anything) will you do different when interacting with each individual?
