*IMPORTANT: Directions for using the Lab Notebook
Maintaining an electronic lab notebook is required for the duration of this course. The labs will be conducted by an experienced instructor. As you watch the labs, you should keep a lab notebook like you would if you were conducting the lab. A well-kept lab notebook is the key to successful labs. The lab notebook acts as the record of your experiment, the procedures used, the results obtained, as well any additional information that may be beneficial to recall later. This is a great way to organize your thoughts and understand the overall goals of each lab experiment. Note: Your lab notebook may be used as you take the lab exam.
A lab notebook document has been provided for you to use, and should be downloaded and used for each lab notebook submission (this can be done by clicking the following blue link at the top of the page titled Download BIOD 171 Microbiology Lab Notebook.docx). You should add notes to the same document so that your lab notes are all in one place, and are easy to access and utilize during lab exams, and the lab final. The lab notebook template provide includes bookmarks (blue hyperlinks) and will allow you to quickly move from one lab to another. It also provides headings of the required content that you need to include for each lab. The required headings are the following:

When you are done with the lab and you have taken all necessary notes in your lab notebook, upload your Lab Notebook document by following these instructions:
