As the basis for your term paper, you are to choose an event or condition which
represents a social problem/issue in Canadian society or globally. The length
should be 5-6 double-spaced pages- word processed.
Students should spend some time reviewing the many topics presented throughout
your textbook. When you find a topic refer to your text and see how you can deal
with the social problem/issue in a sociological manner- or discuss with your
instructor.
Once you have your topic you will need to do some library research- what does the
existing literature have to say? In particular- how can you critically evaluate your
topic.
The preparation of your term paper provides an opportunity to learn and
demonstrate literature review skills, giving and receiving feedback, and writing.
Present your paper in the form usually found in journals such as CRSA, CJS, (a
short abstract, introduction and literature review, discussion, conclusions and
bibliography. You must reference your work!! APA style please.
