What should informed consent, recruitment, and participation look like? How should research projects be conducted, and by whom? Which research questions are ethically worth exploring, and which are not? Who determines what counts as ethical research? Who should participate in determining which research projects may be conducted, and which may not?

You will turn in a paper focused on research ethics. This paper will draw on a historical example of research abuse (pick one): Tuskegee Syphilis Experiments, Guatemala STI Trials, Nazi research investigated during the Nuremberg Trials, or another case of your choosing) to highlight the necessary components of ethical research.
Based on conducting your own literature review from newspapers, books, or academic research articles, provide 3 page description of the research that was conducted, who the study population was, who led the experiment, and what the outcome was.

Then, spend 3-4 pages analyzing the ethics of that research, as well as what “good” research should look like. Address the following: What about that (unethical) research was abusive? How were research ethics violated? What were the inequalities of power, and how were they exploited?
