Write an 800-word essay that analyzes cause and effect in Ray Bradbury’s “There Will Come Soft Rains.”

You might focus on the effects of the blast on the house itself, you might focus on the causes of the invention of such a house, or you might focus on one of the cause and effect relationships Bradbury implies of themes like technology, convenience, war, greed, consumerism, industrialism, etc. Be sure to review the Cause and Effect essay Strategy and sample in our lecture note and Paragraph 1.1
You will write a compelling introductory paragraph (hook, topic, relevance, thesis) that ends with your thesis statement that makes the claim the essay will argue. Your body paragraphs will begin with straightforward topic sentences and develop examples from the short story. The sample essay in the lecture note will demonstrate what you should be including in each body paragraph.
You’ll also edit your work to ensure that your writing is free of language and usage errors.
You will NOT be using outside research; you will use only the story itself, our course materials, and personal and common knowledge. You may NOT use any of the languages in these instructions. Please be sure to use your own words to summarize/paraphrase/refer to specific elements of the story.
For this assignment, please do NOT quote from the story. Use your own words to summarize/paraphrase/refer to specific elements of the story.
For example, here is a passage from the original story: “Ten o’clock. The sun came out from behind the rain. The house stood alone in a city of rubble and ashes. This was the one house left standing. At night the ruined city gave off a radioactive glow which could be seen for miles.”
And here is an acceptable paraphrase of that passage: The house in Bradbury’s story stands alone in a desolate, post-nuclear landscape.
You CAN use any of the original writing (your own words) you’ve already submitted in your discussion posting or reading/paragraphing exercises…that’s what they’re for!
In your essay, you will NOT be re-telling me the story, you’ll be using elements from that story to prove your point. You can assume that your reader, your dear teacher, is familiar with the story and you can refer to characters and instances in general until you need to concentrate on a particular detail to prove your point.
For this assignment, your essay should have an original title, be MLA formatted, and include an MLA style Works Cited page for material posted in a Canvas shell:
Bradbury, Ray. “There Will Come Soft Rains.” Collier’s Magazine, 6 May 1950. Canvas for English 101, compiled by Jenny Netto, Spring 2021, Modesto Junior College.
