INSTRUCTIONS
• Write an economics research paper on the “Causes and Effects of the Financial Crisis of 2008”.
Include research and analysis on the following:
o The actions (or lack thereof) which contributed to the crisis by the Federal Reserve
(monetary policy), the president and his administration, including the department of the
Treasury (fiscal policy), commercial banks, investors in mortgage-backed securities, the
rating agencies (such a Moody’s, etc.), consumers/borrowers, federal government
regulations (such as the Community Reinvestment Act, etc.) and other key players your
research identifies in this crisis.
o What were the devastating effects on these organizations and the economy as a result of
this crisis?
o Determine what actions, if any, have been taken by these and other organizations so that
another financial crisis can be avoided.
• Your paper should use APA formatting and include title page, abstract, graphs/charts, and reference
list. Including these APA elements, your paper should be 8 to 10 pages in total length.
• Your paper must include one graph and one chart – you determine the objects.
• Your reference list is to include no less than seven (7) quality references, not including the course
text (which should be listed if used).
