Human behavior in modern industrial cultures generates a tremendous amount of waste in the process of supporting their large populations. When we think of throwing trash away or taking out the garbage, we aren’t really eliminating it; we are simply distancing it from us. Consider for a moment all the trash you have thrown away throughout your life up to this moment. Then, consider where that trash might be right now.
View the two videos below and write a two-page essay that discusses how the subsistence strategy of industrialism influences, for better or worse, our current handling of waste. It is not practical for ALL humans on the planet to return to hunting and gathering. Given our current situation, how might industrialism be used to address this issue?
