Many counselors go into this profession and have their own mental health issues. Describe what counselors with their own mental health issues should do prior to getting in this field and what they should do while in this field to address their own mental health concerns. In addition, describe all relevant ACA ethical codes that pertain to counselor well-being, impairment, etc.
Explain methods to ensure self-care including professional services, personal behaviors, and other routines that counselors should engage in to maintain well-being.
Discuss methods for preventing compassion fatigue. Describe what compassion fatigue is, how it affects counselors, and how to prevent it. You must use at least one scholarly source to support this section.
Discuss methods for incorporating proper clinical supervision. Write about why clinical supervision is important, how it can be helpful, and ways to incorporate this into the counselor’s routine.
