What theoretical framework or theoretical concepts are used in the articles?

S‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌enior Seminar Assignment 2: Annotated Bibliography In this assignment, you will continue compiling the sources that will inform your project. There is a good chance that between now and the project’s completion, you will add and remove some of these sources. This will, however, form the basis of your project, so choose your peer reviewed academic journal articles and/or scholarly books very carefully. In this paper, you will provide a 2-3 paragraph summary of each source. Things to Consider • What makes a perspective sociological? Remember that your project is a sociological inquiry, so your sources should reflect that as best as possible. • What theoretical framework or theoretical concepts are used in the articles? • What methods are used in the articles? Keep these in mind as they will be informative for your project’s research design. • What connections can you make among the articles? The more work you do now to make connections among the articles, the easier it will be to identify themes for your literature review which is your next assignment. Guidelines Choose 10 scholarly sources. These should be peer reviewed academic journal articles, published within the last 10 years, or scholarly books. Avoid literature reviews, theses, dissertations, letters to the editor, or research commentaries. Your sources should represent an “answer” your research question. • At least 8 of your articles should be peer reviewed academic journal articles or scholarly books. o Aim for them all to be sociological. At the very least, all 8 should reflect the social sciences and/or humanities. o Aim for primary, empirical research articles. While literature reviews/overviews are peer reviewed and very helpful, it is important that you place emp‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌hasis on primary, empirical research. o Selecting books? § If the book reflects one study, its annotated bibliography entry should reflect your understanding of the entire book. § If the book is an anthology/edited volume where each chapter is a different study, you may use up to 2 chapters from that text. Each must be cited and summarized separately. • Given that we are living in unprecedented times, up to 2 of your articles may be mainstream periodicals and publications such as The New York Times, The Atlantic, ProPublica. While not peer-reviewed academic journal articles, they still follow a journalistic standard of fact-checking. You must consult with me before making a final decision on a source(s) of this kind. If you have a question about a source, please always ask me. Senior Seminar • Remember that your summaries must be in your own words. Summaries that simply reflect the language used in the abstract(s) will be considered plagiarism and the assignment will earn an automatic 0. Key Elements of an Annotated Bibliography Entry An annotated bibliography entry: • reports, generally, the main findings; • *discusses the theoretical framework or key theoretical concepts; • incorporates information on the sample, sample size and methodology of the study; • discusses the strengths and limitations of the study; and, • draws connections with at least one other source in the Annotated Bibliography. Submission Instructions You will submit (1) a MS Word file or PDF including your research question once at the top and 10 entries, organized in alphabetical order by author last name with ASA citations and (2) the PDFs (no links) of all of your electronic sources. You can submit all of these files in one attempt . PLEASE GO BASED ON T‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌HE RESEARCH PAPER I ATTACHED BELOW.
