Leader Development Research Paper. Conduct research that will inform your development as a leader in order to understand what leader development is. Reflect on the readings by Bernthan & Wellins (2006) and Avolio and Hannah (2008) as your starting point. Build your own external research to include in your citations and reference list (7-8 external sources are required that include books and peer-reviewed research). Format 7-8 pages single-spaced report in 4 parts (use subheadings to show the 4 parts):
Part 1. Definitions of leader development and leadership development. Long-term goal statement (can be career or leadership focused and indicates individual growth toward leader development) that indicates the need to understand the topic based on self-reflection and DISC and gives background on where you are now, how you hope to grow, and issues and obstacles to consider.
Part 2. Address course content (textbook and required readings) that informs your need to take self-development action as it relates to the research topic.
Part 3. In-depth research on the topic approved by the instructor (about 5 pages). The research should help you understand the area, its importance for leader development, and provide tools/resources/tips/strategies for your personal development.
Use citations (provide a reference list at the end of the research paper). Use APA style for citations and reference list: Research and Library articles
