Each student will be required to submit one scholarly paper on a topic related to gerontological nursing. One of the following topics should be chosen: Restraint use with older adults, Frailty, Polypharmacy, Pain Management Issues, or the Need for Gerontological Nurses. Papers should utilize literature from healthcare journals to write this paper. At least five scholarly sources should be used, and one of these should be a research article.

The body of the paper needs to be 5-7 pages in length. Include a title page and a reference page (Note these are not counted in the body of the paper). The use of subheadings is encouraged. APA format needs to be followed for the references and grammar and syntax of the paper. See the grading rubric for more information about the paper format. A rubric is included in the syllabus and a “leveled rubric” will be used in Speed Grader on Canvas. Additionally, each student is to attach the Scholarly paper rubric to your paper; this is your personal checklist that you have considered all of the important areas to address in a scholarly paper.
