Is “Race” a Valid Biologically Meaningful Concept?
After reading Chapter 5, please discuss, “is race a valid biologically meaningful concept”? What was Franz Boas’ contribution to discrediting “race” as a means for understanding human biological variation? What was Richard Lewontin’s contribution? Why is human variation such as skin color better understood with the concept of geographic clines rather than “race”?

Primate Diversity
After reading Chapter 6 please discuss the following: according to Wilfrid Le Gros Clark, what are the three main characteristics that all primates share? Describe in detail at least two arboreal adaptations among primates not shared by other mammals. Finally, looking over the four main categories of primates listed in Figure 6.1 (p. 134) what are at least two traits that are unique to each of the four groups? In other words what are two traits only shared among prosimians, only two that are shared among New World monkeys, only two that are shared among Old World monkeys, and only two that are shared among apes?
