This activity is designed to accomplish several objectives:
To help you think about infant development more deeply.
To help you think about a controversial issue in an informed way.
To help you practice citing your sources and creating a reference page using APA style.

Directions
For this activity, prepare a reflection on a topic of your choice that relates to infant development from this website: https://www.dadometer.com/popular-and-controversial-parenting-topics/

This website lists a variety of interesting and sometimes controversial topics related to raising children. Not all of them relate directly to infancy, but most of them do. Select one topic that has a direct connection to infant development and do some additional research on the topic. (For instance, “homeschooling” is not an infant topic. If you are not sure, please ask me or our in-class tutor.)

Some of the topics are directly addressed in our textbook and/or online content. Some topics are not directly addressed, but the impact of every topic relates back to the course content in terms of healthy social, cognitive or physical development during infancy. Read and watch the course material first and then look for at least two articles/websites that address the topic of your choice. These sources should provide you with two different perspectives on the topic. (For instance, an argument for vaccinating infants and an argument against vaccinations.)

For your paper, write 700-1400 words including the following elements:
Title page (not part of word count)
Introduction
Brief summary of the infant “controversy”
A paragraph describing one side of the controversy
A paragraph describing another other side of the controversy
A paragraph with your position on the topic and a reason based on what you have learned about infant physical, cognitive, and/or social development.
A conclusion
In-text citations
Reference page (Not part of word count)
Headings for each section

Remember, you need at least three sources – your textbook or online content AND two articles/websites.
