Overview
This week you completed the mindful growth content in edapt. Your final task is to consider how you can apply what you have learned by completing this week’s Mindfulness Reflection.
Tom discusses the difference between fixed mindset versus growth mindset. Do you know
someone who functions with a fixed mindset or growth mindset?
Do you think it will be easier to advance in nursing school and practice with a fixed mindset,
growth mindset or a little of both? And why?
Please make sure that you are including the following information when completing your Reflection:
Answers the weekly reflection questions.
Uses two specific examples from the video to support writing.
Uses Standard English grammar and sentence structure.
Contains no more than 3 spelling or typographical errors.
Writing demonstrates original thought without an over-reliance on the works of others.
What I learned
A growth mindset is one that focuses on hard work and effort to become successful. This type of mindset differs from the fixed one that states that you can’t do anything until you die.
People with a growth mindset usually end their sentences with a single key word. This type of mindset shows that they’re still committed to achieving goals and keeping them within their reach. Another key difference between the fixed and growth mindsets is that the former tends to avoid failure.
A person with a growth mindset will ask why someone got the job in the first place and then develop the skills needed to take advantage of that opportunity.
As you prepare for school or your career in nursing, keep these three key mindsets in mind. They can help you develop a positive mindset, a gratitude mindset, and a growth mindset.
