This assessment is worth 15% of your course grade. Feedback and suggestions for improvement will be provided by your teacher using the following rubric.
From the four poems provided in the following tabbed menu, choose two poems to apply what you have learned so far. The teacher will assess your work using the following rubric.

Expectations:
Shows an understanding of the meaning of the poem
Shows an understanding of the gender lens and intersectionality
Makes relevant points of comparison
Demonstrates similarities and differences between the poems as they relate to the gender lens and intersectionality.
Writes clearly and concisely
Demonstrates a strong command of the English language
Adheres to the conventions of grammar, sentence structure, and spelling
Uses poetic devices terms with accuracy and clarity
Correct use of MLA citation style

Step 2: Analyze the two poems that you have selected

Step 3: Submit your poetry analysis for feedback
Before submitting your assessment, review the rubric to ensure that you are meeting the success criteria to the best of your ability.

Step 4: Articulate your response
There is some flexibility with the structure of your essay. You could analyze both poems at the same time (within the same paragraph, a point by point comparison) or separately (such as alternating paragraphs). You can discuss the theme, main idea, and literary devices used within the poem to help expand your essay, but as specified in the rubric, ensure that the overarching focus is the use of the gender lens and intersectionality. Ensure you have a clearly articulated thesis statement in your introduction.
